Outdoor Curriculum
Children at Stourfield Junior School learn in different ways. Some learn best through seeing or hearing but many learn best through doing. The outdoor classroom will give everyone the opportunity to learn through listening and taking part hands-on.
Our outdoor environment has several advantages – there’s more space; and the children can make noise and mess. It’s often when some of these learning styles are combined during first-hand experiences that the best learning takes place, because all our senses are being used.
Our outdoor classroom – soon to have seating, shade and shelter – provides a safe area to gather together a class. Environmental features will be developed to provide fieldwork opportunities for Science and Geography.
